Starting

Horses undergo a four to six week training programme to give them the best possible start for their future. Mark has worked with a huge variety of sizes and breeds of horses.

By the end of the programme horses should:

  • Tie up

  • Pick up their feet

  • Walk, trot, canter, halt

  • Know their canter leads

  • Be ride-able in an open paddock, not just the arena

  • Be using a jointed, full cheek snaffle

You can also ask for additional requirements, such as riding bit-less or bareback.

Backing

We offer any initial backing that is desired on young horses. Generally, the initial backing is completed over a span of two weeks. We offer this as an option prior to them being fully broken in, once further developed.

re-starting / Problem Horses

If your horse has been deemed dangerous or unsafe, Mark is happy to make his own assessment and offer a plan for solving these issues and a way to move forward. Mark has a wide range of experience with the many different undesirable behaviours that can present themselves.

Once you have made sure that aspects of their health that could be causing their objections have been checked (back, teeth, feet, etc), please contact Mark and explain the full extent of your horses behaviour, so that a fair assessment can be made.
